A Day on the St. Lawrence River

The first portion of todayโ€™s journey was through more of the Thousand Islands and under the Thousand Islands bridge. Itโ€™s been interesting to see all of the houses built on the islands โ€” some of them on very tiny islands, and some quite grand.

After passing under the Thousand Islands bridge, we continued down the St. Lawrence River. We passed towns and villages and even a group of sailors out for an afternoon sail. We also were surprised to see the Singer Castle, built in 1905 by the owner of the sewing machine company of the same name. 47 stories high! They rent out one wing if you are looking for a castle for the night.

Thundershowers had been forecast, and they eventually caught up with us just before the Ogdensburg-Prescott bridge over the St. Lawrence River.

We continued on and arrived at our destination: an anchorage about 1 mile from the Iroquois lock. Iroquois is the first of 3 locks we plan to go through tomorrow as we continue down the St. Lawrence. Our anchorage is well protected and secure, so we can have an easy evening before getting going in the morning.
