A good morning sail

Yesterday Rose headed back to Minneapolis, and our friends Hillary and Koleena arrived in Gaspé to spend the week with us. It was a cold and rainy night — after provisioning for our next leg, we got pizza delivered to the boat rather than braving the weather to walk to dinner in town.

Provisioning in Gaspé

We left Gaspé mid-morning today under sunny skies. The wind was perfect to get both sails up, and we flew along at 8 knots (a lot for a sailboat!).

Beautiful sunny skies to start our day

We had some great sights, including a tall ship under sail, and Percé Rock, a famous spot on the Gaspé peninsula.

We did hit weather — several bouts of heavy rain, even some hail. It was a good fresh water rinse for the salt water on our decks, and we saw gorgeous rainbows.

After a great day on the water, we anchored about 7 pm and made a quick and delicious dinner of watermelon feta salad and the fresh cod from the poissonnerie in Gaspé.
