We left Trois-Rivi\u00e8res on Friday morning and continued downstream for Quebec City. The weather was foggy and rainy, so we kept a sharp watch. About 9 hours later, we arrived in Quebec City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The marina is right in the city, which made it easy to get into town and explore. The marina also has its own lock to control the water level in it, since the tides swing about 15 feet at Quebec City. During high tides, the lock master opens both doors of the lock, and boats are free to come and go as they wish. During low tides, boats are cycled through the lock as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We found Quebec City vibrant and fun to visit. Most of the people we met spoke French as their first language. With the language and the architecture around us, Quebec City often felt like we were in France. We enjoyed the food, making sure to sample poutine and other regional specialties. The restaurants did a nice job showcasing the local ingredients and preparations. We explored the old city – on foot and on city bikes, which was harrowing at times on the steep hills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anne found another coworking space for some meetings on Monday, and we welcomed Rose in the late afternoon. We enjoyed a Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois dinner together and a drink at the Fairmont in the old city. After four days, it was time to push forward, and this morning we left the marina as early as we could. We had to wait until 7am for the lock master to be on duty to open it for us. Au revoir, Quebec City!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
